Third Event

For my last event, I went to a trip to Nantucket. Although it was freezing, this trip was a great experience! I slept the whole bus ride to Hyannis and once we got there we were ready to go. My friends made this experience even better. Our ferry ride to Nantucket was awesome, we made many videos took many pictures and had a lot of fun. This picture is once we got to Nantucket, this beautiful lighthouse was the first thing we spotted as soon as we got there. I'm very glad I went on this trip, I would definitely consider going to Nantucket for a second time. The only thing I would change is the time of the year where we go because it was too cold in the Island!

Second Event

My second event was part of Programming's RICEnd. This event consisted of zip-lining, glitter tattoos and caricature drawings. I have never been zip-lining, so for a first time I think it was great! It was very fun although it went by very fast. I saw a few people I knew at this event. Overall, I had a great night! One of the things I'll remember the most from my Freshman ear of college.

First Event

My first event was RIC Fit Club. The event was supporting breast cancer and Autism. This event had a free Zumba class, a rock climbing wall and a HOPE Bus for Breast Cancer Awareness. I was surprised to see so many people doing Zumba, nobody cared if they could dance or not they just danced for fun. The rock climbing wall was provided by the National Guard. They strapped whoever volunteered up and let them climb the walls as many times as they wanted. Lastly, in the HOPE bus you signed up for Breast Cancer Awareness walks, they gave you free brochures and pins with the pink ribbons. On the bus we got to sign rocks called "hope" rocks which we got to write a message on and would be saved for the big walk tehy have.

My First Dozen

2013-02-15-22-38-43.jpg
When you heard those words you think roses
When I heard then I think of my first dozen of carnations
A special gift from my wonderful mom
Brightly colored and full of life; red, white and shades of pink
Although they will wilt, my memories of them won’t
                       They were my first dozen...

Family Photo

CAM00736.jpgThis picture is of my family and I visiting my grandma at her house in Dominican Republic. It means a lot to me. It is meaningful because until this day my sisters and I have a hard time looking at the camera and staying still while a picture is taken. As you can see all three of us are looking away because we were distracted by something, what it was? Who knows! Also means a lot to me because these are the four people I love unconditionally.
From left to right in this picture is my mother with my youngest sister Jenipher on her lap, my father with myself and  my sister Silvia on his lap.  My mom is wearing a turquoise shirt with jeans and my father is wearing a gray shirt with jeans. My sisters and I are more dressed for the Dominican Republic tropical weather than they are. I am wearing a bright shirts with orange smiley faces and flowers with plaid shorts which also have flowers on one side. That day my mom let me dress myself, I was so excited to pick my own outfit and that was the outcome.  My mom always liked to match my little sisters because people thought they looked really alike, this explains why they are both wearing overalls.
We were the main focus of this picture. Next to my parents were a few uncles and aunts but you can’t see anyone other than us.There’s a little background to it which is the walls and the steel bars door. Other than, my family is the main focus of this picture. We had all spent the day running around and playing with Grandma from my dad’s side because soon she would have to depart back to the U.S. She would be leaving us behind again until she came back to Dominican Republic or we came to the United States. My grandmother was the photographer in this case that’s why the picture looks crooked. She had no idea how to even hold the camera.

Zoe Adames
I think it's interesting that you chose the same exact pose from two angles! I agree that your eyes really stand out in the first "bird's eye" shot! Other than your smile, wonder what about your body pose/the framing/the photo in the second shot makes you feel like you are less happy in the second picture.

Perspective changes the way I view myself. From different ways the camera faces me, I look like a different person. From the bird's eye view you can clearly see my colored eyes which is hard to see from different angles. Also, I had the same pose in both pictures and you can see the pose better from the Bird's view. The Woman's View makes me look unhappier than I really was taking this picture. My smile looks pretty fake and I look unhappy, I was caught off guard. I still liked this picture so chose it anyways. I think the way my head is tilted, my serious face and my body posture give me this unhappy look. In the Bird's Eye picture I am sitting up straight while in the Woman's View my body looks sort of slumped and more of a tired look.
